JWSS aims to develop CCA leaders holistically. CCA leaders make up the majority of our Student Leaders and play an important role in influencing their peers and juniors in values such as Resilience, Integrity, Care, Harmony, Excellence and Respect.

The key-shaped competencies that all students of JWSS, especially the Student Leaders (CCA leaders), will be developed in

Leadership Training

CCA Leaders will receive formal training in the Leadership Challenge (Kouzes and Posner) 5 practices and 10 commitments, namely:

·       Model the Way

·       Encourage the Heart

·       Challenge the Process

·       Enabling Others to Act

·       Inspire a Shared Vision

In addition, CCA leaders will receive specialized mentoring by:

·       CCA Teachers

·       Coaches and Instructors

·       Seniors

Leadership Platforms

CCA leaders are involved in the preparation of school events and competitions. They have platforms all year round to practise their leadership. Such platforms include:

Selected CCA leaders will also have the opportunity to dialogue with the School Principal and the School Management Committee, as well as plan for the school’s Sec 1 Orientation Programme.

Through these platforms, CCA leaders are given the opportunity to plan proposals, engage with the school, so that they can make a positive difference to their peers, the school and the community.

Selection of CCA leaders

To be selected as a CCA leader, students should have consistent CCA attendance in the same CCA and have an exemplary conduct of “Very Good” or “Excellent”. Respective CCAs may also have their own selection processes such as interviews.
