JWSS Class Committee
OverviewThe Class Committee play a crucial role in influencing their peers and juniors in values such as Resilience, Integrity, Care, Harmony, Excellence and Respect. They influence the class culture through class and school projects. The Class Committee roles are: Class Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Administrative Head, Sustainability Head and Welfare Head. VisionA confident leader anchored in values with a growth mindset and the agency to serve The key-shaped competencies that all students of JWSS, especially the Student Leaders, will be developed in Leadership TrainingClass Committee will receive formal training in the Leadership Challenge (Kouzes and Posner) 5 practices and 10 commitments, namely: · Model the Way · Encourage the Heart · Challenge the Process · Enabling Others to Act · Inspire a Shared Vision Selected leaders, such as the Vice-Chairperson and the Welfare Head, will have the opportunity to serve as Peer Support Leaders, and be trained in identifying DISTRESS in their peers and offer socio-emotional support through the CHEER model. Selected students will also be identified as Community Youth Leaders to be trained in service-learning to lead the class in Values-in-Action community projects. Through these platforms, Class Committee can make a positive difference to their peers, the school and the community. Selection of Class CommitteeTo be selected as a Class Committee member, students should have consistent school attendance and have an exemplary conduct of “Very Good” or “Excellent”. The Form Teacher may also facilitate a class discussion to reach a consensus in the nomination of class leaders. Class Committee RecognitionOutstanding Class Committee may also be recommended to serve in the capacity of CCA Leaders, Student Councillors and Student Ambassadors to grow in their leadership journey.
