CNY CONCERT PERFORMANCE –  Ushering in the new year with familiar CNY tunes, smiles and red packets.

BAND DAY CAMP – Held in early March 2020, Band Day Camp paved way for bonding outside practice sessions. We are so grateful for chances like these!

CCA ONLINE ZOOM SESSIONS –  Sessions still went on and we made sure we see each other online when face-to-face CCA was suspended. We did a combination of online activities with an aim to provide students with meaningful learning experiences. From simple music composition to getting into the shoes of a band judge, teachers and instructors work together to curate instructional resources to maximise students’ learning.

NATIONAL DAY E-CONCERT – In a special performing arts segment, the band members put together a piece by playing to the tune of ‘One People, One Nation, One Singapore’.

Activities & Competitions (2019)

CCA OPEN HOUSE - Alumni joining us for CCA Open House to support their fellow juniors and share their insights on the reasons why Band truly makes an excellent CCA choice

BAND CAMP - Band Members displaying their creative talent in designing other than playing their instruments. Other than sectionals and practices to prepare for SYF, Band Camp aims to provide an opportunity for members to bond through games and activities.

MUSIC EXCHANGE AT WOODGROVE - The trumpet section getting useful pointers on the importance of proper embouchure, which allows them to play their instrument at full range with a full, clear tone and without any strain to their muscles.

MUSIC EXCHANGE AT XINMIN – JWSS Symphonic Band  listened on as fellow musicians present their SYF set piece, Festival on Earth by Lee Jin Jun. Music Exchanges provide a good chance for band members to develop critical listening skills with an aim to improve instrumental tone quality and awareness towards other instruments in band as well.

MUSIC EXCHANGE AT XINMIN - The SYF team is ready to give their best on the SYF stage after gaining useful pointers and exposure from fellow musicians of their age. This definitely makes them feel extremely thrilled to be a part of the band movement in Singapore.

SINGAPORE YOUTH FESTIVAL ARTS PRESENTATION 2019– Captured just minutes before entering the SYF Hall!

SINGAPORE YOUTH FESTIVAL ARTS PRESENTATION 2019 – The continual journey of self-improvement and the friendship formed among JWSS Symphonic Band members throughout preparing for SYF makes all the hard work worthwhile!

JWSS SPEECH DAY REHEARSAL – Melodious tunes for the audience to enjoy during the concert segment.

JWSS SPEECH DAY – Our very own student conductor, Izzati Majinin (4N1) helming the parade segment.

PERFORMING ARTS MORNING ASSEMBLY SHOWCASE – A special showcase from the Band for their schoolmates to brighten their day!

SENIORS’ FAREWELL – Trusty Band Majors, Izzati and Kyle Anne, are always there for the Band members whenever they needed guidance. With every outgoing JWSB cohort, goodbyes do not get any easier. With every passing batch too, seniors never fail to reaffirm the reasons why all the juniors should stay on and push through challenging times in Band. All the best, seniors!

JWSS ANNUAL NATIONAL DAY PARADE – Newly-minted Band Major and Student Conductor, Iffah Haziqah, leading the Band in the parade segment. Definitely not an easy task but she does it exceedingly well under the guidance of our instructor, Mr Vincent Lee and the strong support from all the band members.

OVERSEAS IMMERSION TRIP TO BANGKOK, THAILAND – JWSS Symphonic Band embark on this journey which aims for students to interact through planned programs and school immersion activities conducted at local schools, improve students’ musical skills through exchange and sectionals sessions with local counterparts and foster camaraderie, cross-cultural interaction and bonding among fellow musicians from Bangkok.

OVERSEAS IMMERSION TRIP TO BANGKOK, THAILAND – A shot at Paper Ranger, Thailand.
