National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The National Cadet Corp (NCC) strives to instill a spectrum of values into its cadets and in Jurong West Secondary School (JWSS) in particular, these values ranges from developing an adventurous spirit to that of integrity, teamwork and more. NCC cadets undergo rigorous training and through this, they are able to build up their resilience, another of JWSS’s school values, to better cope with changes and challenges through their lives.

The training which the cadets undergo encompasses (but not withstanding) the following: physical training, foot and arms drill, marksmanship training or rifle-handling, field-craft training and others. Cadets who display proficiency in certain facets would be selected to represent the school in various competitions and courses to pit their skills and expertise against the best in the country. Some of these competitions include the Shooting Competition, Orienteering Competition, Challenge Quest and Drills Competitions. Deserved cadets are rightfully recognized and are promoted accordingly.

NCC Jurong West Secondary School has a tradition of producing leaders is renowned to be one of the best units in Singapore. Consecutive Gold Awards for the unit is testament to this. Our cadets garner top awards in various courses and were selected as top cadets while one was selected as the most outstanding cadet within the district.
