CCA Objectives

Red Cross Youth is a CCA that integrates character-building, leadership, essential life saving skills, blood donation knowledge, community service and overseas humanitarian projects in its curriculum, with the Red Cross ethos and service to humanity as a core focus.

Besides being well-trained in First Aid which our cadets are known for, Red Cross Youth also train students to manage various disasters, such as natural disasters or even a terrorist attack. We impart them with the knowledge for cadets to become an ambassador of blood donation. In addition, as part of our main focus of service to humanity, our cadets frequently join activities such as Flag Day and planning their own VIA Campaign. Our cadets are also well trained in footdrill, which instil in them self-discipline and order.

DRRC and ABC
The Disaster Risk Reduction Competition is a platform for our Secondary Three cadets to understand the importance and relevance of Disaster Management from the training and interaction with the school community. The task given to the secondary three cadets is to create an online activity for the secondary one and secondary two cadets to increase preparedness in the community. The team was awarded the silver award for proposing an interactive and a creative activity. As a Red Cross Cadet, they also play the role of a Youth Blood Ambassador. As such,  Ambassador for Blood Competition is a platform to hone their oratorical skills and to come up with creative ways to encourage blood donation among the public. Our cadets were awarded the commendation award for the Ambassador for Blood Competition.

Service Learning Project
The Mental Health Awareness Campaign aims to increase community awareness of the importance of Mental Health, which is especially crucial during this time of the pandemic. In groups of 5, the cadets came up with a Mock Pitch on ways to increase awareness of mental health by using an Informative video.

First Aid Championship (FAC)
The First Aid Championship (FAC) is an annual event held by the Singapore Red Cross. The theme for the FAC 2021 Championships is “First Aid at Home”. This year, the organizing committee hopes to further promote and bring awareness of Household First Aid to the masses and continue our long-standing efforts to promote and reach the goal of having a first aider in every household.

Our junior team was tasked to create Instagram posts across 4 weeks to raise awareness on how to treat cuts and sprains, while our senior teams produced two videos on burns and fractures. Here are some screenshots of their projects as we await the results of FAC!
