Internationalisation Programme

Programme Outline

Through the JWSS internationalisation programme, the school aims to nurture future-ready Learners, Thinkers and Leaders. Our Internationalisation Programme exposes our students to the world as their learning classroom and develops our students to possess a global outlook as well as equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to operate within multi-national settings. The school also regularly hosts students and educators from foreign schools and educational institutions.

Our Internationalisation programme covers 3 broad areas – Overseas Student Exchange, Student Leadership Development and Cultural and School Immersion Programmes.

The objectives of the JWSS Internationalisation Programme are:

JWSS has established various school exchange and school immersion programmes in collaboration with schools in many countries in Asia, including China (Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Taiwan), Japan (Shizuoka), Thailand (Bangkok), Vietnam (Ho Chih Min), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Indonesia (Jakarta) and Cambodia (Phnom Penh).

As part of the programme during the overseas trips, students will have opportunities to engage actively in the following:

Overseas Student Exchange Programme (OSEP)

Student Exchange Programmes provide opportunities for students to visit overseas schools to deepen their understanding of the educational experience of their overseas counterparts. JWSS students would then play host to students from these overseas schools when they visit Singapore.

Here are some exciting highlights of the OSEP (Shizuoka, Japan) in November 2017:

Student Leadership Development

The JWSS Student Leaders Overseas Programme is for selected student leaders who have displayed strong leadership potential to be developed into taking on key leadership roles within the school. Through the programme, student leaders understand how their counterparts overseas perform in their roles, which in turn, serves to enrich their own personal experiences. Interaction with their overseas counterparts would also help students sharpen their personal leadership philosophy.

Cultural & School Immersion

JWSS students, through their CCAs, have opportunities to take part in various Cultural and School Immersion Programmes to countries such as Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan Indonesia and Cambodia. Through these programmes, students are given opportunities to interact with their overseas counterparts through school immersion and interaction activities such as friendly sports matches, classroom interaction and observations as well as learning journeys to relevant organisations.
